The original Washington State Cemetery Association was formed by Andrea MacDonald in 1998.  The group was instrumental in getting new legislation passed that protects our state’s cemeteries. Their website can be found here. When Andi passed away the association soon followed.  Her shoes will never be filled. May her spirit always shine!

The new association has a slightly expanded focus but still has many things in common with Andi's group.  We are interested in all cemeteries, burial grounds and grave sites in Washington, whether they are abandoned or not, regardless of their age or status.

We intend to document every site, assist the county auditors with their challenges on maintaining data, educate the public and instill a more reverent, respectful outlook on the physical locations of our dearly departed.
